Ive been to Canada once, to visit family. especially drumheller was great. Im a sucker for dinosaurs. Ofcourse The Rocky Mountains, they were absolutely amazing. Oh and you have that mall in Edmonton which freaked me out. I mean: a rollor coaster, swimming pools, racecars, boats, dolphin shows. Its sick. The nature is awesome, being attacked by goats and mooses wasnt that fun though. stupid animals walking on the street, just to annoy you.

satitania
04-25-2005, 01:47 PM

Tired_Of_You

Everybody knows that song :D So your first language is English?

satitania
04-25-2005, 02:00 PM
i actually didnt know that song until about two weeks ago when someone sang it for me, i had never heard it before in all my life even though i grew up in rigaud (and im 21 now)

yeh my first language is english, sorta learned french in school, and have been taking german the past two years

i assume your first language is french?

Tired_Of_You
04-25-2005, 02:07 PM
It was time you hear it ;)

Yes, my first language is French, but I learned English more by myself than at school. English classes in French schools seem better than French classes in English schools, though.

satitania
04-25-2005, 02:14 PM
i think you're right, any francaphones that i meet have worse english than my french. It's a shame since most of the rest of canada is english (or chinese but never mind that :P), like if you want to go anywhere else you gotta make sure to learn english, must be frustrating!

i wonder why both systems are so bad, if i was paranoid id say they dont wnat us to mix, more likely theyre just too lazy to make better programs, hmmph.

Tired_Of_You
04-25-2005, 02:25 PM
Well, they want to start to teach English in first grade now. Maybe kids will be better than the others who started to learn it later. I started to learn English in fourth grade. Anyway, there are so many bad English teachers that it won't change anything. As for English schools, I've got no idea how it works.

I think you're a little paranoiac. lol.

I hope I'll be bilingual, because like you said the rest of the Canada is English and also a lot of other countries. I'm better than most of the people at school, but my English is not perfect.

You said you're not really good in French, but can you communicate or it's just your French written that is not very good?

satitania
04-25-2005, 02:29 PM
it sounds pretty good to me :) probably the best that i've read from a francaphone, cant tell how you speak it though obviously.

I technically started learning french in kindergarten, but only in the fourth grade did it become "serious", my french teachers in elementary school were better than in high school...my french when i was like 8 years old was much better than it is now!

Tired_Of_You
04-25-2005, 02:44 PM
Thank you. I think I need to improve my English when I speak. People say it's good, though. Maybe it's just me. =/

My sister follows one of those immersion programs where half the subjects are taught in French and the other in English. I think. I'm not exactly sure about the details.

Personally I graduated an accredited French high school but my English was decent enough at the time to allow me to study in Dawson. It was nowhere near the level it is now; gradually, through practice, I raised myself to where I am today.

Yup. I can relate to you guys.

really...actually i suppose thats true for english as well, although more high school/CEGEP in university i dont see that but i guess thats to be expected
