I'll be working from 7pm - 7am (CST), kindly keep the forums moving during these hours as the only entertainment I will have is access to the internet. Thank you.

I guess donuts only last for so long...

...what's an ex-criminal doing as a security guard?

ninth

If by donuts you mean Chex Mix. I don't want to get fat.

Working through college.

ninth

Not familiar with Bold Party, I'm kinda xenophobic with my Czechz Mix.

dirtybird
03-26-2005, 07:26 PM
Bold party has crackers and more rye chips.. And I think there's something left out from the original, but I'm not sure.

Uh, of course.

tbult's screenname: okay... so, moving on.
brick logic: i'm starting with the man in the mirror
brick logic: i'm asking him to change his ways
brick logic: and no message could have been any clearer
brick logic: if you want to make the world a better place
brick logic: take a look at yourself and make the change
tbult's screenname: what is that from?
brick logic: MAN IN THE FUCKING MIRROR
brick logic: MICHAEL JACKSON

If you feel the need to do so... go ahead?

Uh, insecurity guards. I'm a professional babysitter son, it doesn't take any technical skills or height. One of the guys that actually does work is way shorter than I am, he's probably like five feet tall, but he's scary as fuck. 5' 7" isn't too short, is it?

I'm currently on an MJ kick. My favorite artists are Matthew Good, afireinside, mewithoutYou, and Thursday.

Ah, I had no idea what an insecurity guard was.

And MJ rules. Strictly as an entertainer. A musician rather.

I knew you were going to say that! No I'm kidding, it's all the music categorization. Merely because someone listens to the bands you mentioned does not scream "emo". Sorry, I wasn't serious.

Edit: Oh and your picture didn't come through when I first saw your post. You do look like an emo kid, I must say. There's of course more to it, though.

Insecurity guard = someone named Sean that usually sits in a car lot for 30 hours a week, sometimes going to other sites (such as software companies, see also: tonight)

I can't stand people that go to community colleges and get their AAs in Criminal Justice, congratulations, you're going nowhere in life. I got this ridiculous job so I can pay bills, eat, and provide myself with entertainment during college. I'm in no way interested in justice; criminal, poetic, or otherwise. Security is the most ridiculous occupation ever, with a turnover rate similar to that of dishwashing.

I know security guards who do rather well for themselves. I train with guys who are either bouncers or contracters for a firm. Neither has any sort of a degree in "security" though--only a black belt in karate and the ability to open a can of whoop on one's ass.

They probably don't live in Iowa either.

Because criminal justice is a joke, and not a very good one at that.

Do you not have clubs/bars/venues in Iowa?

ninth
03-26-2005, 08:56 PM
I talked to a security guy that worked at Gabe's Oasis (a venue/bar) in Iowa City. He works three different jobs (Venue security, taxidriver, owner of a tattoo shop).

Does he sleep during lunch breaks?

It's not hard to live off your security job alone. A bouncer at a club works Wednesday through Sunday at a 100$ per night for a 500 bucks a week. For extra income they could give karate classes.

I don't think bouncers get paid that much around here. I should go to the hooker bar and ask the bouncers there, as they get tipped by the dancers for their services.

HornyPope

I think it's a fairly standard salary. Maybe slightly less in smaller cities, but I doubt any bouncer will go out to work for under 70$ a night.

ninth
03-26-2005, 09:30 PM
We provide bouncers for the Sheraton in Iowa City and I think they only get $8.50 or $9.00 an hour.
