I have quite a collection DVD's now, about 200+, but I'm still searching for some good criminal movies. Something in the lines of Swordfish or The Italian Job (2003).

So give me your best shot, which movies should I get? (Please post a link to a review if possible)

Oceans eleven, Man on Fire, Training Day, Snatch. Those are some off the top of my head. Hope they are what your looking for.

Ocean's Eleven is on TV tomorrow, I just saw a commercial of it, hence this topic. Training Day was on a few weeks ago, quite good. I'll look up the other ones. Thanks.

I knew you'd recommend pornographic movies.

The only ones I can think of at the moment are Ginger Snaps 1 & 2. They're both pretty gruesome. I'll get back to you on this, can't remember any others.

Endymion
03-27-2005, 04:57 PM
if you don't already have them, pulp fiction and reservoir dogs. also, donnie brasco, boondock saints (awesome), memento, and seven. don't really have any more in that vein...

good movies, however: ghost world, 12 monkeys, dark city, cube, pieces of april, and secretary.

Well I've looked up reviews about 'Snatch' and 'Man on Fire'. But I.. what? Wild Amature Chicks 2? That's action, but not criminal. Anyway, 'Man on Fire' is pretty much for sure not what I was looking for. I'm talking about movies where the perfect crime is being commited. And 'Snatch' didn't seemed like that either.. meh

Ginger Snaps? No it isnt. Well I think I remember nudity and mature scenes. Happy?

Are you kidding? Snatch was very well liked....and had a HUGE cult following.

nitropenguin!:
Ginger Snaps 1 & 2
Not quite what I'm looking for either.. it seems to be more horror-genre than criminal.

Endymion:
Pulp Fiction
Got it, great movie.
Reservoir Dogs
Got it on VHS.
Donnie Brasco
Got it aswell, it's a good movie.
Boondock Saints
This sounds more like it, I'll have to look further into this one.
Memento
Not what I'm looking for, but it seems like a good movie though.
Seven
I've seen it at least 5 times.
Ghost World
Comedy/Drama as the genre says. I've skipped the review. No.
12 Monkeys
Saw it a while ago. Long while ago. Gotta watch it again when it's on TV.
Dark City
Seen it, twas ok.
Cube
Damn! I almost rented this one at the videostore a while ago. I'll be picking it up next time for sure, the online review sounds way more awesome.
Pieces of April
See 'Ghost World'.
Secretary
Comedy/Romance eh?

-Endymion, thanks for your post!

Trip Boy
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
I've heard of it before, review seems nice.

yes it is: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0208092/
It doesn't actually say it's all about one big crime. And that's what I'm really looking for.

If you want a good action, criminal movie, get NAPOLEON DYNAMITE!!!!!
Comedy. Geek. A mix between a lion and a tiger? That's where I stopped reading the review.

snatch isn't so much about a big crime but it's like reservoir dogs dealing with the aftermath of a jewel heist. at least that's what i recall it being about... it's really good though.

boondock saints isn't about one big crime either, exactly... it's two brothers who believe god has chosen them to rid the city of all evil men... lots of violence, though. very, very good. three thumbs up in ol' endy's book.

03-27-2005, 05:30 PM

Tijs

In my book lots of violence doesn't mean it's good. I haven't seen the movie though. But I don't know.. it sounds kinda.. rubbish I guess.

edit - I'd better go to bed now. Thanks for the replies.
Movies on my list:

-Cube
-Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

lower priority -Memento

Well... I don't know if this is something you would have obviously seen (but Pulp Fiction was recommended which is obvious!)... but... The Usual Suspects is a very good one. One of my boyfriend's favourite movies ever, and I enjoyed it too.

That's all I can think of right now... I generally don't enjoy those kinds of movies unless they're REALLY well done.

Oh, you want the perfect crime? In that case, you have to get The Day Of The Jackal (not the new version with Bruce Willis). It's pretty slow, but you seem as one of those who could like it. It's really smart.

I saw Batman last night on channel 4 and I thought that was brilliant! Other films I recomend are Nightmare Before Christmas (or any films by Tim Burton), Pulp Fiction (or any films by Tarantino), Eternal Sunshine (or any films by Jim Carey except Liar Liar and the Majestic), Donnie Darko, Shaun of the Dead and any of the Disney/Pixar films the The Incredibles and Toy Story.

That is all.

omg page 4.

I saw Ocean's Eleven monday. Great movie, that's what I was looking for! Thank you.

Movies on my I-should-rent list:

-Cube (Endymion)
Even though it isn't a criminal movie, I wanted to rent it before.
-Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (Trip Boy)
-The Usual Suspects (Betty)
-Ocean's Twelve (Foxy)
After seeing Eleven, I'm curious about twelve.. even thought it got rated low..
-Office Space (DirtyMagical)
I've seen it before indeed, partially. Gotta watch the full movie someday.
-Innerstate 60 (Jesus)
Sounds like fun
-De Zaak Alzheimer (Jesus)
Got to have a good Dutch/Belgian movie

*saves list*
There were a lot of movies that I've already seen, or have. But most where totally not what I meant. Thanks anyway!
