It said that after the first song has been selected, they'll select another. Will they continue this until all the songs have comments, or just 2 or 3? There are lots of REALLY good choices, I'd like all of the kind of weird songs to have light shed on them. Like Walla Walla, what the hell is THAT about?

Walla Walla is a city. It's about a guy who's in a prison in Walla Walla I think. I should read the lyrics and reply here...oh well, too lazy right now.

Yeah, except Walla Walla is like...insanely obvious. But "Kick Him When He's Down", and "Take It Like A Man", for example, have tons of cool metaphors I'd like for Dexter to explain to us!

Walla Walla is about a crook who's actions caught up with him. Simple as that. Look at the lyrics.

I want to know what songs like Special Delivery, Kick Him When He's Down, or maybe No Brakes are about.. the good songs that don't really to seem to have any corrolation with anything.

Wow I hadn't even read your post.. I started typing mine before you posted. Great minds think alike...

No Brakes is about just keeping up with the speed of life, which just gets really fast and crazy and hectic at times. It sounds like activities such as skateboarding and things of that nature connect with the intensity of life, and it's all summed up in the song. That's how I interpreted it anyway! :D

Yeah that's what I was thinking.. I just mentioned the songs with the metaphors that sprung out at me.

I know what the song is ABOUT. What I DON'T know is what inspired him to pick that name, or even write the song in the first place. Maybe it was a bad example, but it's still kind of weird.

No one answered my question, though.

The inspiration is that jail and consequences of actions are typical punk topics.. especially the latter.

Ah, well. Good enough :D

I'd like to see a comment for all the songs possible, though. We could get a look about how Dexter's mind works.

Where's the fun in that? Besides, do you know how fucking long that would take? I don't want to know EVERYTHING about a person's brain... that'd be wrong on so many levels...

Omni
03-30-2005, 08:27 PM
Why the fuck do you have to be this way? We're not gonna learn everything about his brain because he told us what his songs were about, but we would see how he writes his songs.

dirtybird

He writes his songs by coming up with ideas and putting words to them, then a riff. Sometimes the other way around. You said you wanted to know how his brain worked, and I was just commenting on that. Don't argue; you'll get in over your head.

Well, that's the shit I'm talking about. We wouldn't have to even exchange words like this, let alone argue, if you didn't have to try to act like this. Seriously, that was a perfectly good question. Noodles is Gay even made a topic about it, so it can't be just me that was curious. Why do you have to act like you the shit and above everything?

dirtybird
03-30-2005, 08:33 PM
What the hell are you talking about? If it's the topic I'm thinking about it was about what Walla Walla WAS... not the whole thought behind it...

Omni
03-30-2005, 08:36 PM
I was asking what it was ABOUT, not what it WAS. The other topic didn't shed much light other than it's just a town.

Well, whatever. I'm sorry. Let's just stop arguing. This is pointless and we're not gonna get anywhere by it.

I answered your question, what are you bitching at me for? Jeez you're retarded. Just because I don't go 'Hey that's a really great question!!!!1111 I've been thinking about that for a while, and have come to the conclusion that...' doesn't mean I'm an asshole.. I mean I am, but not for that.

Well, you know, it's possible to answer a question without sounding like a smart ass or in a condescending way. You came off to me as a smartass, even if you didn't mean to.

And I just apologized, there is no reason to drag it on.

dirtybird

I am a smartass.. or atleast an ass in general.. but not right there. I can be much worse if you want.

Omni

I'm sure you can, and even if you didn't or didn't mean to, it came off to me as you did. It doesn't matter, though. I guess this topic is done.

Walla Walla IS a city in Washington, but Dexter was using it to describe prison.
