I use Jim Dunlop Jazz 3 Plektrums.... they are small, so you can play very fast soli but also thick enough to play muted and heavy riffs

Yes, it is thin. I'm so lame, I can't play with picks any thicker than that, but that's because when I was learning guitar, my teacher used 'em.

pretty much the same. although i do have a really nice Ibanez one which has a sand-type grip so it pretty cool, and it's pink! Failing that one i tend to prefer very thin ones.

.38? thats thin as fuck. I can't image playing cleanly with that thin of a pick.
I use a thick Dunlup Jazz 3. I swear by it.

Meh, I can't speed pick with a thick pick so I use the thinner ones. I can't use a thick pick for regular picking either. I don't know why, but it feels really fucking weird.

I don't use a pick, cause I can't seem to hold it the right way no matter how hard I try. But I'd use a thick Ibanez Offspring pick if I used one.

What do you mean by speed picking? I've never heard that term used before. Do you mean alternet picking? nvm...
I like thin picks when I play in clean, but with distortion a thick pick is mandatory for me. The thiner the pick, the louder the pick attack will be which I find very annoying. Thick picks tend to have a softer and rounder pick attack.

Speed picking....it's when you pick continuously in the up and down stroke (but very, very fast either on one or two strings, sometimes more) rather than picking each string at a normal tempo. A lot of death/black metal bands use it, it makes the riffs sound faster than they really are. Fucking killer on your picking hand after awhile though >.< I personally have no problem with the sound of the pick, I don't usually notice it either.

I play bass, and I usually use Fender Mediums, but I'll use Thins if i don't have those. I found that if I used too thick of picks, the strings were too taut and i'd just catch the pick on the string and it would sound shitty. Bad explanation but basically the thinner the pick the easier it is when you've got such thick strings. If you use Extra Heavies sometimes it's like a picking a brick wall.
