to some yes, to some no. I personally adore splinter, i know its not everyone favourite but if we all agreed on such things this place would be a bore.

splinter rules. i donīt care if itīs better or worse than splinter. It will rock anyway. There has been no bad Offspring albums so far, and i doubt there ever will be one.

If it was more in the style of Splinter and 15 minutes longer Id love it, you can see how much effort they put into some of those songs

the thing is im a old skool offspring fan i prefer s/t to americana. they got too pop. splinter was better than other "pop" albums but not as good as the ones before *cough*

It can't be too hard to beat Splinter... to be worse they'd have to release an all ska album or start wearing tight pants and sing three octaves higher than normal.

aha! good point! :D :D :D

If it was like splinter, add on 15 minutes, include a song that sounds like TKAA, and remove when you're in prison, it would be pretty good

I think its kind of silly saying what an album will sound like when it doesn't technically exist/public haven't heard it... But if its better/as good as splinter I will be happy.

I have a gut feeling it will be better. They have learn't from there Splinter mistakes.

I hope they go back to playing like in Ixnay or Smash. Their last two c-ds kinda sucked. They were good, but they could have done better.

^Ixnay/Americana sound. Ignition can't be touched, so why bother. Smash is boring to me.

They have 'lear not' from their mistakes?

 DUDE! How can Smash be boring to you? Every song has a differnt feeling and beat going on. They were a little sarcastc, serious, humorous, and political in Smash. It doesn't get better than that.

The lyrics are great, I love the cd, it's just not as great as all the other Offspring albums (not Splinter; Splinter's the worst).

I think it's their best one. And Conspiracy of one is the worst, before Splinter.

Conpsiracy is tied second with Self Titled.

Drummerguy123

I wouldn't know. The Self Titled one is the only one I don't have.

Ok..Im gonna ignore the sick conversation above and stick to the thread purpose lol. I definately hope their next album is better than the last one. Splinter is good, but they've done much better work before. I miss the heavier, more agressive stuff...

me too. I liked that better. although Ixnay was pretty good.

they could put anything on the album and i would think its better than splinter. its not that bad but its crap compared to ignition or selftitled

Dexter_H

at least splinter was better than CO1.

Caijs

true true they did make an improvement there

But, the question is... Will be a next album? Cuz Conspiracy = bad seller - Splinter = worst seller...

I have not pay attention to the forums until march more or less, so I don't know if there is new album announced (apart from Greatest Hits) or all this topic is a supposition....

I want more offspring cd's but I want GOOD cds...

if they can get back to the disinfranchised youth energy of their youth, anything they do will be great. however, one thinks that as they get older, they are less able to write songs that really relate to young people- their songs are going to be about, more or less, grown up stuff.

having said that, all the political and social issues on the older CD's (pre- Ixnay specifically) is quite 'grown up' and mature.

the one thing (other than the trivial shortness of the cd) that annoys me when I listen to splinter is that it seems that they kind of pull some punches (especially on songs like Neocon). Also, as much as i love the songs, worst hangover ever and spare me the details don't sound as though they belong on a punk-rock CD.

however (last point, i promise!) having seen the boys live last year, there seems to be a heap of energy still there, so hopefully if a 'best of' is put out, and they tour it, it will rekindle some greater interest in the band.

anywho, my two cents (which in my country gets rounded down to zero)

If they did another C-D that was like their pre-Ixnay stuff, but with a little bit of their Americana flair, it would be awesome.

Let me ask you what you mean by "heavier", did you not listen to Lightning Rod and Race Against Myself? Well there two of the "heaviest" songs done by The Offspring. Anyway I think the next album will be more like Splinter, you know heavier guitar riffs and whatever. I think it be real good but probably won't be appreciated as much as it should, like Splinter. As long as they keep making good music and make their albums more than 30 minutes, they could keep making albums untill their 60 or older.

Well, I guess, they could do anything what they want, i would still like them. I like s/t and i like splinter.. all their CD's are a little different, but their all great! So I don't care, if it's still a little bit of offspring's flavour, it's ok with me.
