We never really spoke Dutch on MSN before, but today we suddenly started speaking Dutch...a few words at first, but then the entire convo turned Dutch, and woah, she's great at it

My German teacher called Dutch the ugliest language in the world.

I know, irony. But anyway.

Hij ig het okoorpte.

I like pretending I know languages.

I read an essay from Iza. man, I discovered long, LONG ago she's awesome at it. & it's real cute with a cherry on top, too. there were sentences in which I spotted a mistake & I went all "AWW, isn't that just priceless?".

Shh, or I'll chase you around with a Vliegenmepper too! (correctly spelled this time)

JoY

We can have an "ožeži po muvi" game!

I know you have no idea what it is, it's a serbian retarded thing... Goes something like this: one of the people in a group randomly gets called 'the fly', then everyone else goes around chasing and slapping him (anywhere they can), until someone else gets called 'the fly' and then it goes all over again... Doesn't make much sense, I know, but it used to be fun when I used to play it, aww *remembers*

so it's basically.. a matter of being slapped..
I don't like the sound of that game too much. hahaha. I prefer a soft "tag, you're it" from ONE person at a time & one person only.

Yups, slapping all the way!

Slavs are a bit violent you see... But "tag, you're it" works too, I played that with Ken and my sis one time, it was hilarious, because they were both like "Dude, you're 19, be serious." I told them they were lame-os and kept chasing them around. They ended up giving up on their "oh I'm so serious and grown up" attitude and played along. Yay!

Is it really that hard to learn? They say it's one of the worst languages to learn :o

Izie

Eh, I definitely wouldn't say it's THAT difficult given the fact I learned enough in 6 months to pass the uni entry exam... And I'd also say French looks more difficult :/

But some things are really tricky as there are no rules and you just have to learn it by heart or just pick it up along the way...

We had to check some German essays done by students studying B2-German (as opposed to us, who study A-level German) and I found that they didn't mock up in grammar (mostly because they never dared to do any relative sentences or anything) but they just had spelling errors and stuff like that. Like, I've been studying German for 9 years, so I know it's scheinen instead of shienen.

And I thought to myself, "Okay, can't do much adjective conjugation but I sure rock at writing German words. Yeah. Nietzsche, bitches!"

Anyway, I'm kind of blown away how fast Izie has learned this language. I mean, she didn't move to Belgium ...when did she? A year ago? Less? Either way, a stunning performance. Then again, if she is surrounded by the language, it must be easier. But still, I tip my hat for her. Loads.

*bows*

It is much easier when you're surrounded by it, and actually forced to use it if you want to be able to have any form of cuman contact, heh.

I've moved to Belgium in October, and I've been actively learning the language (with a teacher) for 6 months before that. Semi-actively (on my own, so just self-study books), another 3 months or so. Dutch is really not THAT big of a deal if you know English - Dutch grammar is pretty much a joke compared to English (the things that have no rules don't count as grammar in my book, and those are the weirdest ones, I've said it before).

Thankie though :) Mucho thankie :)
