That's stupid - it's not how fast you can read but whether you understand it or not and whether you pick up every single detail or notice things that are merely implied rather than explicitly said; which you cannot so with 'speed reading'

mine is apparently 541 words per minute BEFORE doing this increasing thing.


EDIT: increased, ostensibly, to 683 - but it's still stupid.

my friend can speed-read without having learned it. she's just one of those girls that reads a LOT. she's just Dutch, but she can read an English book, two Danish books & one Spanish one within four days. I've actually witnessed this & I was fucking stunned. it normally takes Dutch people four days to read the English book she read, seeing it's size. fucking brilliant.

I'm quite certain you can't 'speedy' learn to speed-read. it's either something that you can, or can't, but it'll never depend on a course of speed-reading.
