pop is a general concept. it means popular. and except classical, jazz, folk, vs. all the kinds of music are pop. but nowaday people call britney, BSB kinds of stuff pop. i think we can't separete them easily. X-Tina's fighter sounds like more rock then pretty fly.

That's why I made this thread. So all this arguing can stop. I'm as tired of it as you are. Oh, personally, though, I strongly believe the Offspring are punk.

Let me say the one thing all you people need to hear-

-The Offspring- are -Punk Rock- and will ALWAYS be Punk Rock
none of this pop or metal shit, no! they make the BEST Punk Rock music, thats all that needs to be said, and you should all agree with me because its the truth. :p

the genre selections were not versatile enough. of course the offspring arent in the pop genre. the pop genre is reserved for britney spears etc.

i voted for punk because it was the closest thing to the offsprings style. in the selftitled-ignition era i would say full on punk, but as their style changed i would say they are more rock/pop punk.

I think Offspring are Punk-Rock but have altered Punk-Rock into their own style which has bought them to where they are today. They have had more Punk-Rock sounding albums.......such as... Selt Titled, Ignition, Smash, Ixnay, Americana would be punk rock without (pretty fly for a white guy) and why dont you get a job) but after that it was just a case of trial and error with Splinter and CO1, they like to try different styles sumtimes it works sumtimes it doesnt, but who cares.......i still think they are awsome!

I don't really give 2 craps if Offspring are Pop, Punk, Punk Rock or whatever. They just make good music which shouldn't be tagged with any particular genre....

The style changes a little after every album. S/T was 100% punk. Ignition was more punk/rock. Smash mainly punk/metal. Ixnay on the Hombre was rock/metal. Americana was pop/punk. CO1 was pop/rock. Splinter was kind of a mixture of the earlier album style and later album style.

Who cares what genre they are?
It varies from song to song, Blackball is punk, while Pretty Fly For A White Guy is a little bit closer to pop than their other songs.

Hey, why don't we just make up a genre specifically for the Offspring? Any ideas?
