Yes, we have a Christmas tree but I will admit that it is plastic This is more economical for us because killing a tree for Christmas is really not worth it. They do not last long in this heat and will die within a week. As for the presents, we basically celebrate in South Africa like the Americans do but I don't think we make such a big deal out of it. So, the presents are brought by Santa but I think that I’m old enough to know that there is no Santa In my household, we start our celebrations on the 24th ... following European traditions but not all households do this, for them Christmas is on the 25th. I love the way Europeans celebrate Christmas, kind of gives the whole thing more meaning and it also helps that you can at least see a white Christmas, not much of a chance of that happening here

Christmas is SA ... well, it is very hot here, so instead of spending the time indoors, we tend to spend the day outside but the rest of tradition is the same as in Europe, at least in my family
