I mean, his goals are low for his usual average... But he's still scoring an average of a goal per game. That's nothing to scoff at.

I think defenders are just finally figuring out how to give him less chances. He's got less shots on goal as well as less goals, so that would make sense.

Well, regarding Ovechkin: the Washington coaching staff shifted game strategies to be a lot more conservative/defensive orientated, and i think that's been the leading reason as to why Ovechkin's scoring totals appeared to have declined.

I think Vancouver has got the West pretty locked up: providing they don't choke. I think the East is still fair game for most teams: Phily and Washington probably are probably the best two to make it.

so... a philly loss and vancouver win, or two vancouver wins locks up the presidents trophy! It's weird... never been this good. Let's hope they don't suffer the same fate as other presidents trophy winners since a first round
match up against the blackhawks seems quite likely...

I think I might seriously cry if they knock us out three years in a row... it's bad enough last year ended on the same day of the same game of the same series to the same team... despite the dominant start to the series...

but hell I guess you have to go through that to be able to make the long run, right?... right?...

oh and where the hell did this corey perry come from? he's not taking moronic dirty penalties either it's quite odd

Very, very excited about the leafs prospect pool at the moment:

Aside from the guys actually playing in the nhl at the moment (Reimer, Aulie, kadri) we've got Jake Gardiner, Joe Colborne (getting his first nhl game tomorrow!) and we've recently signed Greg Mckegg and Matt Frattin (who just signed tonight and will play in the last game!).

And my official playoff team support goes too:
    -Whomever plays against Boston
    -Whomever plays against Philly
    -Washington
    -Montreal
    -Vancouver

I wonder if the Blackhawks will clinch today...

What an embarrassment, going from winning the cup to missing the playoffs in a year.
When they said "sit down", I stood up.

My favorite team, who has the best record in the east since January, is up against a team that has been struggling the past month or so. I'll take it.

    Again.

Man, you sure can count on the Canes to be really, really clutch or to really, really choke. In other words: you can't count on the Canes. Should be an exciting playoffs anyway though. I really hope it's finally Vancouver's year; I've always found them to be a likable team and this year all the pieces seem to be falling into place.

    First round predictions

    Capitals over the Rangers
Flyers over Sabers (although i'd love to see an upset here)
Canadiens over the Bruins (game 7)
    Penguins over the Lightning

    Canucks over the Hawks
    Sharks over the Kings
    Red Wings over the Coyotes
    Ducks over Predators

    For me:

    East:

    Caps over Rangers (obv)
    Flyers over Sabres
    Bruins over Habs
    Lightning over Penguins

    West:

    Canucks over Blackhawks
    Sharks over Kings
Red Wings over Coyotes (but I'd love to see the Coyotes come out strong and win this one, despite however much I like Detroit)
    Predators over Ducks
