It could be a worse delay, look at Dillinger Four.

And I'm excited, 'cause I'll always have a soft spot for this band. And a new producer is just going to make things interesting.

So, I listened to a couple tracks off American Idiot for the first time since I was 14 a couple of weeks ago.

It's their best record. They released it at exactly the right time and it made them relevant again after being noted as mainly a couple-hit-wonder back in 1994 with occasional hits tossed in as they released more tracks.

Basically, it's got more mature songwriting, both lyrically and musically than their other cds, and it's less one-dimensional. Sure, there are a few awful songs, and as a whole record, it's inconsistent, but songs like Letterbomb and She's A Rebel are so catchy and generally better than their older music that I don't see how fans can say they've sold out just because they've stopped writing songs about masturbating and smoking weed.

I just re-read a bunch of random pages in this thread, and i wish i hadn't. This has got to have a BBS record for greatest number of idiotic arguments in a single thread.

Finally, something on the new album...
A new video has been posted on youtube, it shows Billie Joe playing in a studio for the new Green Day album, which I believe that will be released by next June or so.

Yep, sounds good. It has gotten me missing Green Day, what better way to remember about Green Day than listening to Dookie? I don't think there is any other better way out there.

That sounds like the type of Green Day I was hoping to hear! Righteous!

Although the video clip was poor quality, the riffs seem to almost have a "Warning" vibe about them; i really hope their recording process goes a little quicker then it did for a certain other Californian punk band that I enjoy....

I agree with the 'Warning' vibe. It also makes me excited.
