    Default Oingo Boingo

    Dear Danny Elfman,

Why are you so amazing? I realized recently that I think I've been in love with you my whole life. Surprise! Should you ever have a mid-life crisis and find yourself in the market for a criminally younger trophy wife...I know a guy.

    Love,

haha! not if i get to him first!
    pistols at dawn?

it is a shame, that as great as a composer he is, he doesn't get as much recognition as he really should. he really does get looked down upon by other film composers because he's not "classically trained", he just kinda picked it up on his own, and kicks the shit out of a lot of others that were "schooled"

As I've grown up some. back in the day. I even use myself as an example. reflected on things that happened in the past. I have a better understanding of things now. At least I can admit it now. I have somehow caused this situation by mentioning how I used to act on here. how I've changed. I'm a relatively normal poster now

    They do awesome music!

I have to say that I'm incredibly against 80s sound/production which made most of their studio stuff very off-putting for me, but their Boingo Alive album is absolutely fantastic. Also, even ignoring the production, lots of the performances are about a million times better than the original studio versions (check out that version of Who Do You Want to Be? for example). Some of my favorites are Home Again, Dead or Alive, Just Another Day, Not My Slave, We Close Our Eyes, Elevator Man and that's just the first disc...
Anyway, they do kind of a mix of new wave and ska and various other styles, but don't let that put you off if you're not normally a fan of those genres.

    YouTuberations!

This song, "We Close Our Eyes" as retooled for the final farewell concerts, is what made me realize that Mr. Elfman and I were soulmates. I warm up for shows with my band singing all the harmony parts to this.

"Just Another Day" is one of my all-time favorite songs. This is also live from that last show.

This is an amazing video for a totally intense song, "Insanity," from their final album. Do you like Tool's video for "Sober"? You might recognize the puppeteer's work here.

"No Spill Blood" was inspired by the Island of Dr. Moreau and turns that story into a funtime party banger. Who knew?
