Well, thanks I wasn't sure about Olympia because I recorded it while I was sick (chest cold), and I couldn't belt like I wanted to. But I think it turned out OK, especially the backing vox (I snatched those from the Mell Yell backups on the NOFX cover, similar to our band's song Pop Song). I'm glad to hear you think so, too~

As for Drum Machine....we've been getting along a lot better in the past few weeks, but I still can't seem to get the fills down. He's not programmable, you see, so all we have to go on are the pre-installed rhythms (there are exactly 99). It's a matter of sampling them in, cutting and pasting, then re-sizing and re-fitting until they fit together in the allotted space. It's very tiring work, but it's totally worth it. We probably would have done more fills and whatnot if I hadn't been sick last night. Chest colds are a bitch > If you could hear our version of Crazy Train, you'd see what I mean about the fills. They're absolutely ridiculous on that one, nearly impossible to emulate using a Drum Machine.

EDIT: Military Mind is also one of my faves I really like Steve's vox on it because they're really natural-sounding, but also because he's good at ad-libbing. We've got this other track that's just his ad-libbing over my rhythm playing (the background noise is kind of grunge-y, think like Dead Kennedy's "Kinky Sex Makes The World Go Round"), that's really kind of disturbing. I'll be uploading that one in a few days, once we've got all the extra stuff sampled in. It's gonna be schweet~

Alright, up for another total overhaul. Steve and I got together again this weekend and recorded a whopping 14 new tracks (!), and we've completely redone the Myspace. The only song still intact and in its original form is Military Mind; all the other tracks have been re-recorded (again, in some cases), or are new. We also have a new cover---Bad Religion's "In The Night."

I think this is a better set than before, mostly because there's more cooperation between Steven and myself. The songs are getting to be a little more diverse Feel free to check 'em out anytime you want.

    Oh, and new art, too~

And in other news, we might have a long-term bass player I gave the demo EP to a guy I know from work; he says he'll listen to it, and if he likes it, he wants in. I'm so happy now~ If this works out, all we need is a drummer and we're in da bidness!

P.S. I also have a version of "Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?" that I'm trying to find a place for. Unfortunately, there isn't one at the moment, so I figure I'll wait until In The Night tires itself out and swap 'em out for awhile.

Thanks for your support, Offspring boards!

EDIT: There might be some lag time while the tracks are processing, but they should be available sometime in the next 24 hours (or so Myspace says). So if all six aren't showing up yet, don't freak---that's just Myspace being douchey.

It will be interesting what will Static Martyr sound like after 5 years. Your current sound is kinda oldschool, but bands used to evolve into something (a bit) different (like Manic Subsidal / ST Offspring -> Ignition -> Smash and so on).
You really need a drummer now . I personally would like to hear more "living" drums, it's a suggestion for your future drummer to make drums sound a bit more complicated than it is now (somehow I'm getting bored with simplification of drumming which is so popular today). Try to get Chris Mora from Silent Civilian, he knows how to make a right beat
Before you speak think about what you're trying to say.
Who else is there to blame for miscommunication?

Hah....I'd be happy just to *be around* in 5 years. But yeah, that would be cool to do like a retrospective type thing at that point....as for the drummer, we're working pretty much around-the-clock to find one. That was the whole reason for putting out this EP, actually---we had been waiting and trying to find one before we recorded stuff, but it was taking so long (and with absolutely no progress at all....I mean, this is something you either have or you don't, there's not really an "in between" phase), we decided to go ahead and start laying stuff down with a drum machine, just to get an idea of what kind of shit we'd have. That would give a clearer picture of what kind of stuff we play than "we play lots of stuff, ya know" 0_0

God, these thrash tracks would be *so* good with a real drummer....I think I'm gonna go salivate.

P.S. The Kids Aren't Alright is back up on the Myspace, and I re-did the vocals because they were a bit too noisy before. Hope you enjoy~

Here they are, my fliends -- every complete cover we have recorded to date as Static Martyr:

Kristy, Are You Doing Okay? (Offspring) http://rapidshare.com/files/14114102..._Okay.mp3.html
    Half-Truism (Offspring) http://rapidshare.com/files/14121360...ruism.mp3.html
The Kids Aren't Alright (Offspring) http://rapidshare.com/files/14114215...over_.mp3.html
    Blitzkrieg Bop (Ramones) http://rapidshare.com/files/14114750...g_Bop.mp3.html
In The Night (Bad Religion) http://rapidshare.com/files/14114868...lete_.mp3.html
    Part III (Bad Religion) http://rapidshare.com/files/14115179...lete_.mp3.html
    Insight (Dead Kennedys) http://rapidshare.com/files/14114956..._Tim_.mp3.html
    Olympia, WA (Rancid) http://rapidshare.com/files/14115108..._vox_.mp3.html
    Whoops, I OD'd (NOFX) http://rapidshare.com/files/14115240..._OD_d.mp3.html
    You're Wrong (NOFX) http://rapidshare.com/files/14115302...Wrong.mp3.html

Enjoy (or don't)! But even if you don't like them, don't hesitate to say why. We're what I like to call a "Fetus Band" --- we're probably not where we're going to be if and when we start actually playing places and getting signed (if we ever do), so we're totally 1 million percent open to feedback at this point.

Also, though, keep in mind that I have very, very shitty recording equipment. I know this, and the sound you hear is the best I can manage with my current equipment. Although, if you have any tips for how to improve our sound without purchasing new equipment (as I'm already planning to do that), by all means let me know, because that would be awesome

I listened to a couple covers, they were pretty good. I just think you just need better recording equipment. To be honest this is one of my favorite bands ive seen on the fourms. I love your songs on myspace, i can really see you're band going somewhere! 5 out of 5!

    ^*does a little jig*

But yeah, we do need better equipment. Once I get some money saved up, I'll be getting some better mikes, and I definitely need a better mixer (the brand is so generic, it's not even printed on the mixer). The bass mikes are the worst, though---they're missing the foam heads! So I have to use my guitar mikes for the bass mike, which is weird because I have to reset the parameters every time I go between recording guitar and bass. I really just want a separate one to do each part with (one for vox, one for guitar, one for bass, and many for drums). Oh, and a real drummer would be very, very cool.

But yah, thanks for the good word~ Now, if only more drummers around here felt that way...

Okay, one more thing. I know I'm probably bugging the piss out of you, posting something new like every 30 minutes, but I'm on a roll today and I'm afraid to stop for fear of losing all this material. I just uploaded a new original song to the myspace called "Us" (it's track 5 on the list), and I wanted to get some feedback on it. If one or more of you guys could give it a shot and let me know what you think, that would be quite awesome, indeed

    Thanks in advance!
