^I pulled the volume back on the drums, and I also adjusted them so they were in the same key as the guitar and vocals. Someone pointed out (and rightly so) that the vocals didn't fit, but I played the guitar part specifically so that they would fit....which can only mean that the guitar is not prominent enough to imply the right progression, whereas the drums are too prominent and drown out the progression. So I upped the guitar and dropped the drums, and I left the vocals as they were. This should help greatly~

I added a bass line and some overlapping funk guitar for this one....I really think it would benefit if we removed the keyboard lines during the verse, though....for some reason, I can't get them to wrap around the bass and guitar; they're just ever-so-slightly out of tune, in such a precise way that it's impossible to reconcile them by editing....if you notice, during the "it's all done/I hope you've had your fun" part, the bass and guitar are in perfect tune, whereas during the verse and chorus, the guitar seems out of tune. This is because of the keyboard's weird tuning. I asked for Steve's input on this, since he and I kinda collaborated on the keyboard part. If he's cool with it, I'll take it out because I think it muddies up the mix.
Thanks for the new versions! The changes really improved the songs and I'm starting to like Spin Out And Crash now

    I'm glad it worked out!

Yeah, your changes gave those songs a bit more ear-friendly, mainstream () sound. For most people it should be a big step forward, but I definitely don't afraid of earlier versions.

Alright, we got our jams on this afternoon and pumped out about 4 1/2 songs; basically, 4 songs (one with two versions) and an intro~ Kind of a throwback to the original Static Martyr recording sessions; just two guys, three guitars, a drum machine, a keyboard, and like 15 billion short but awesome hardcore songs Enjoy (or don't)!

    Succession (0:13) = http://www.sendspace.com/file/p1l1pz

    The Hindering (0:40) = http://www.sendspace.com/file/ahrzsb

    Spit It Out (0:36) = http://www.sendspace.com/file/wiglh8

    Shit Feelings (1:27) = http://www.sendspace.com/file/v2x7by

    *Shit Feelings - Beatbox Remix (0:32) = http://www.sendspace.com/file/qeug7w

**You Were Never There, Were You? (3:08) = http://www.sendspace.com/file/w4iceu

*=This is a brief, goofy-ass version of the full song that I recorded behind Steve's whispering vocals, whilst I was trying to convince him to give it a hip-hop-ish beat. I said it would sound really cool if we threw some keyboard in there and gave it a slow, heavy drum beat, and dragged it out a little, and he declined at first, so I made this choppy little demo to show him what I was talking about....I got carried away instead, and needless to say it did not have the effect intended....it's mostly just here for a giggle or two

**=Like our earlier song, No Name #7, done in this style, I'll be adding some harmonies and extra guitar to this song before long. In the meantime, feel free to enjoy the dry version~

Anyway, here are the lyrics (all lyrics are Steve's this time):

    "The Hindering"

"You gotta' big mouth for spitting
    bullshit in my face
I gotta' big dick for fucking
    you wife everyday

    Talk Shit Once!
    Let it slide.
    Talk Shit Twice!
    You die tonight.

    You flappin' your gum's
    Talkin' too much
    fuckin' insane
    and it's driving me nuts

    Talk Shit Once!
    Let it slide.
    Talk Shit Twice!
    You die tonight.

    You piss and moan
    and I'm goin' insane
    This baby mama fuckin' drama
    got me goin' outta' my
    BRAIN!"

    "Spit It Out"

    "Talk talk talk talk
    Talk talk talk talk

get it out! Spit it out!
    or shut your fucking mouth!

    Talk talk talk talk
    Talk talk talk talk

    Losin' control! On a roll!
    gettin' hot. I gotta go!

    Piss and moan
    No control
Looking like I'm on a roll
    Beat your face
    with Bitch Wisdom
Your price is never worth the sum.

    Talk talk talk talk
    Talk talk talk talk

    Shut Your Fucking
    Shut Your Fucking
    MOUTH!"

    "Shit Feelings"

    "You resent me!
    Well, who the fuck cares?
    Self resentment;
    I have enough to share

I know that I hurt ya
    I did ya fuckin' wrong
    Fuck livin' in the past
    Attempt at holding strong

I anger you. You anger me.
    Who the fuck knew,
    That dating friendships
    would fuck up my crew.

    Now, I'm friendless
    hopeless.
with no chance of goin' on.

    helpless crying
    fuck trying!
    It's me.
    Not You!"

You Were Never There At All, Were You?

"My mouth is dry from... crying
My eyes are wet from... flying so hi.
I need a doctor to cure me of ills
when the bogey man fetches an animal to kill

He needs a fix for his long white rob
He needs a lover who learns love in Morse code.
I need a fighter who's seen my favorite films
and who sings along in tune to my favorite hymms.

    and that person.
    that lover.
    Just might be you.

I seek a trip for the big West Coast
I must follow the trail of an old Southern ghost.
My ears are open for you to sing your songs
My head is empty tonight, so no sing alongs.

I need a long lost sign from the city above.
To let me know which man she will love.
and if that sign never comes, I'll understand.
and I'll search for the beauty with two open hands

    and that person.
    that lover.
    Just might be you.

Well things work out in the strangest of ways
366 dollars. A leap year of days
and I'm better for the knowing, but not better at all
She understands my delima, but she built this wall.

and I know the sacrifices that she had to make.
to love such a fool who compares to a snake.
Slithery skin and a tongue that'll fork
I thought you were the lady who could understand my sort

    but that person
    that lover
    Never was you

    No, it never was you."

Wow, you guys are... more than super-productive
I'll give it a listen now, then post my opinion on the new songs.

Btw: Is the re-recording of The Answer finished yet?

Almost; the music itself is done, I just need to wait until I can get everyone out of my house so I can do vocals (they always come in and complain about how loud I am, interrupting otherwise perfect takes; so I usually wait until everyone's at work or out doing stuff to record).

It's great to have whole band writing lyrics not a single guy, isn't it?
    Keep it up!

Yeah, it's definitely nice to be able to take a break every now and then and still have people who can pick up the slack. It's kinda like we take turns doing song lyrics --- I'll write three or four, then Steve will write about the same, then maybe Allen will do a couple, and then it's back to me again~ Hopefully Allen will be contributing more in the future, but for now we seem to have trouble all getting our schedules to coincide (it's been once a week for about three weeks now, but that's kind of an abnormality in the grand scheme here).

And as for keeping up....well, you ain't gotta tell us twice!....or even once, really

Alright, got a new acoustic ballad fer ya~ It's a sequel to "Johnny White and the Columbine Kid" called "Johnny White, Envelope Guru." Here's the link:

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/gtvcmu

    And lyrics:

    "Johnny White, Envelope Guru"

"Oh, Johnny White, he killed all of his friends
Moved up to the mountains to escape the local trends
His .88 tucked away, maybe to use another day
His violent ways forsaken in favor of a sunny day

Well, Johnny heard a rumor from a friend
It said, "Hey, Johnny, ya know, this hatred's gotta end
You oughtta find out what you wanna do, what's best for you
This murderin' ain't right, you need some social limits, too"

He said, "I've found a reason, so I wanna go
I wanna spend my days making envelopes
With lots of pretty lacing and a perfect strip of glue
And I wanna mail those letters, too"

Well, Johnny's friend was taken by surprise
And Johnny, he could tell just from the expression in his eyes
He said, "Bud, don't you judge me, 'cause you know what I do best
Fuck with me, I'll lay you six feet under like the rest"

They say Johnny went postal, but if only they knew
The lengths that crazy Johnny White subjected himself to
He made a thousand envelopes a day for seven years
Until the cops came to those mountains and confirmed his biggest fears
    And they arrested him."
    "I'm sorry
For all the things that I never did
For all the places I never was
For all the people I never stopped
But there was nothing I could do...
