Lightbulb How to pull off Dexter's hairstyle in "Gone Away" Video

hey guys, does anyone know how to pull off Dexter's hairstyle like for example in the "Gone Away" video?

i can't get it done, if i put too much hair gel on, then my hair gets too greasy. if i put a little amount on, hair doesn't stay spiked up but falls down instead.

some say you have to do it with dry hair, but like that it stays very greasy and not wet-looking. and i guess you need huge amounts of gel..

maybe i'm using the wrong gel? i have the l'oreal fx studio invisi' gel (the "very hard" one). does it have to be more hardening like the "radical gel" which is a "texturizing fiber glue gel"? http://www.lorealparis.ca/img/l10n/p...262/Sty5_1.jpg
or maybe the new "indestructible gel"? http://www.lorealparis.ca/img/l10n/a...P_ART_0044.bmp

i need some advice about how to do it right and in not more than 5 minutes.. do you think dexter spends like half an hour doing it? 'cause i wouldn't have patience to do it then..

well thanks in advance for your comments!

I think that LM 1565 explained a way to do it in this thread:

Even if you get it right you'll still be ugly.

wen i spike my hair up i use L.A. Looks sport 10 . You dont want to have your hair too wet nor do you want it to dry. Moist hair. It takes me about 3-6 min to get it the right look if you know what your doing. I prefer not to use a comb.

that's highly probable, but then again, being pretty isn't the point, is it?
