Question Why is Lightning rod such a special song?

It might be a silly question, hence this song is one of the best from splinter. But ever since I heard about the campaign to get the offspring to play this song live, I've been wondering what makes this song so special to the fans?

Lets try to keep this trash free ok guys?
this is just for the sake of good offspring conversation.

I guess it just started with iGustavo wanting them to play it...so badly. And we all knew they've played it a couple of times before, but no recordings' of it's found. So iGustavo started this campain, and we all supported him because we all would like to hear that song live. ;D

It is a rarely played song, and to be honest it is absolutely amazing... I would like to have heard No Brakes live first but whatever...

The video from earlier this year was only the second time they'd played it live.

Lightning rod really one of the best songs from Splinter, but not that special to me. If I had a chance I would have chosen a lot other songs to start a campagne for. Anyway I don't mind that I heard this song live in Zagreb, that was one of the best 4 minutes of the Offspring shows I visited this summer. But I think it's always special if we listen rarely played songs live.

This song is just awesome, I just love the melody, the lyrics and everything. Definitely the best song off of Splinter, and it surely deserved its own campaign, didn't it?

It was actually the third time, wasn't it? And also... This reminds me, you once said there's a video for Lightning Rod live in Japan, is that true?

I think it is that the BBS kids (that's us) glorifies rarely played songs, especially if the songs are good. The difference between Lightning Rod and older songs that are never played anymore, is that the older songs were not rare when Offspring had just released two albums and that Lightning Rod has been rare from the day it was released.
