Default New Rancid record in 2012

Rancid announced on their Facebook yesterday that they're going back to the studio this September to make a new record with Brett Gurewitz producing it. Here's what it said:

West Coast. Rancid has been taking an extended break for the last 18

months, and we thought that these shows would help us to get our chops

up before going into the studio with Brett Gurewitz to record our

eighth album in September. It's always good for us to go out and play

some shows, just to get us ready before going into the studio, and

that helps bring that live energy to tape.

We'll keep everyone posted with any new developments. 2012 will be a

big year for us, because it's our 20th Anniversary, so we're

definitely going to do our own tour all over the world.

As always, we appreciate your support.

I think i liked their last album more than most. Sure it was far from their best work, but Up to No Good and That's Just the Way It Is Now were incredibly catchy stuff: reminded me a lot of the songs on Tim's solo record. That said, wouldn't mind if they let Lars handle some more lead vocals on the new one.

I'd do anything to erase the sound of Tim Armstrong's voice from my memory. I have never in my life ever heard a voice that grated my nerves so fucking badly. He completely and utterly ruins that band for me.

The only song I can remotely stand is Ruby SoHo, because he kind of masks his suck somehow in the chorus. And it kills me because I know that they probably have a ton of songs far superior to that one.

I guess you haven't heard robert plant's voice then.

...And Out Come The Wolves is probably my least favorite rancid album.
