The US election system is messed up, and neither one of the two major parties want to do anything about it. If Republicans would notice that a lot of Democrats would start to vote for the Greens, they would start to throw money at them. So there would have to be something else done to make third party a more viable. There are no reasons why the Democrats nor the Republicans would want to change something.

That's why run-off voting needs to become a thing. Ramsey County, which is where St. Paul is located (the capital of Minnesota) is supposedly starting run-off voting with the next election for Mayors and Senators. Voters will be able to choose two candidates and rank them #1 choice and #2 choice. If their #1 choice doesn't get at least a certain percentage of the votes to make that person an actual contender (eg: Libertarian, Green, Independent, etc), your second choice is counted as your official vote. It's the best solution, and I hope it spreads quickly.

Godxilla, it's not that simple. Your vote does not count if you throw it away. Bush won the electoral college because of the percentage of votes Nader took from people who would have otherwise voted Gore.

You are correct. Unfortunately most of Ron Paul's fans are also confused.

I was listening to Obama last night (excerpts) and he said that he wants to use the funds we are using to fight the wars and instead use it to pay down the national debt. I about choked laughing at this statement. Holy shit.

Kind of like how I almost choked laughing when Clint Eastwood accused an empty chair of starting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Guess what? Those Nader votes really counted, eh? No denying logic. Unless you're punk as fuck.

It's probably gonna be Obama again anyway (and with that another four years of Yes, we can! and Change! and all that ... funny)

I...really think Clinton may have just won El Presidente the election, there. Wowzers.

Classic, big-dawg, overly-lengthy, awesomely convincing Clinton. You're awesome, dude.

I'm not really that impressed with Obama, and his campaign stuff has really, really annoyed me lately with the half-truths and bullshit'o'plenty, but all politicians do that. So I suppose the worst I can say about him is that he's...either become, or always was, like the rest. No better no worse.

All the same I wasn't too happy with Romney, though I hardly think he'd be a disaster either. Still not entirely sure who I want in there, but I can really, really fucking see other people who're on the fence just being swayed.
