Okay, that's WAY too many syllables to be able to be sung with the same rhythm. That's one major problem when translating English songs to German. I see some plural/singular errors and I think incorrect forms of some verbs. Lasst should be lass because verbs lose their endings when the verb is a command. Freunde should be Freunden because it's plural. Some nouns are not capitalized and nouns begin with a capital letter in German.

I said, "Hi, Greg. I'm the creepy girl." He chuckled, then wanted a handshake and I gave it. I wanted a hug and he gave it. One of his sons was there, too. Cute. Then Pete got him to autograph my sign for me because I was too polite to ask myself since he was on his way to eat. Pete also took this of photo of him holding it. - 8/2/2014.

Slim Pickens is going to be really difficult to translate without losing its meaning, because the lyrics rely heavily on a movie reference. Once translated, it definitely won't mean the same thing.

Yes, I agree that it's difficult to translate it, but that's the point of this thread: translate the song to another language, without losing its meaning and then try to sing it with original music... I think, for example, Session would be easy to translate to Bosnian, without losing its meaning...I'll try to translate it, and then I'll post it...

Are you going for just an 'unlost' translation, or aiming to make a translation that also could be sung with the same rhythm and music as the originals? That would make it far more difficult.

I thought the point was to translate it in a way that you could still sing it with proper rhythm AND have it still make sense. Like...

    Når alt blir mer spennende
    Henger vi med vennene
Vi slapper av og drikker mye CB

    is not

    Now excitement seems to grow
When we're hanging with the bros
When we're chilling and we pound a case of Stroh's

    It's actually

    When everything gets more exciting
We hang out with the friends
We relax and drink a bunch of CB (Christianssands bryggeri, a kind of Norwegian beer)

Close enough for jazz :P Also, comedy option:

    gi det til meg baby
    ah hah ah hah

Not really a good idea to translate lyrics (and make them fit the music) AFAIC.
Listen to these and you'll know why

Great song in German ... awful in English.

Can't really tell how a song would sound like in a language I don't speak..

I actually like Die Toten Hosen's translated songs, especially Zamrożona Wyborowa.

Didn't the band do are wanted to do a Spanish version of Hey Joe?

What's the point of this thread? Why should we translate songs to languages we know but which no one else knows?

Just another pointless thread on the world wide web. That is the point of it.
