Default Against Me! and their new album

So AM! is at it again, Transgender Dysphoria Blues is the title of the new record, and it is the first record with a female vocalist. The band has left major label Sire and will self-release the record through their own record label.

Also, Atom Willard is the new drummer of the band after the last drummer quit the band. Some of you may know Atom Willard from being a drummer for Offspring. It would seem like AM! has the same problem with drummer as the Offspring has as AM! has had 3 different drummers in 3 years.

This one is probably my most anticipated album of the year.

Some of the "new" tracks that i've heard live have been fantastic - the title track, and "Black Me Out" (should it make it the final cut). Against Me! Is one of my favorite bands and I've always love their lyrics, but i'm particularly excited to hear this one due to it's theme's subject matter and its relation to Laura's recent announcement concerning her personal life.

-though based on other more recent videos, the album version will be electric and involve the full band.

I don't think The Offspring have that problem they have had 3 drummers in the last 25 years

It was a pity that Jay Weinberg (the guy they had before Atom) didn't end up being a good fit. He brought a lot of energy to their live performances.

I really like Atom as a drummer, but i really wish he'd just pick a band and stick with it. This whole "hired gun" thing is wearing a bit thin with me. It's hard to get excited when he joins a new band, since most likely he'll be gone in a few months.

I think he might be out of the band before they go on tour with bad religion next month

This. I saw Jay Weinberg with AM! live last year, and he is so energetic that he makes the rest of the band look damn lazy. He sings along to most of the music, even though he doesn't have a mic.

Looking forward to seeing them next month with Bad Religion. I'm actually more excited to see them than bad religion.

He's essentially a Diet Josh Freese, in my opinion. I didn't think he fit in very well with the Offspring when he joined for some reason, so I wasn't particularly sad to see him leave for AVA.

I was I think it hurt the band when he left

My love for the band started to dwindle - and then I bought the CMVC used in 2006 and it spurred me to come to the BBS to find out when the next album was going to come out, but I was no longer that into them. Atom joined right around the same time I stopped caring much about the band, so while I knew Dexter's and Noodles' real names because I was obsessed with the band in 1998, I didn't care enough to look up details about Atom. :P
    ok that makes sense

I must say, I much prefer their earlier albums to the later ones, so I'm not very excited. But I guess it will be interesting either way.
