Default News on the next album and label change

According to Florida Weekly, The Offspring are in the early stages of putting together their next album. Although Dexter doesn't talk about the record, he states that the band is free-agents and adds "We have to re-examine if it makes sense to have a big label now. It's a different time". So, my guess is that we may have to wait until at least 2015 to see another album because, according to another source I saw (which apparently got deleted), The Offspring will be on tour this year and next year. However, on the page for the new album on my Wikia, I wrote that it's expected to be released in 2014 or 2015 just in case something happens.
The founder of The Offspring Wikia, and looking for someone to help out, find out why at this thread.

Nothing new there. We all know that they have unreleased songs, so of course they are in the early stages of putting together a new album. They have not even decided if they will. This discussion will go on and on until they officially say something.

Originally known as Manic Subsidal, they changed their name to The Offspring in 1994.

    Some actual news!

Though, as we've experienced in the past, when the band says "we're thinking about the next album" it usually means quite a ways away (I remember during their RAFRAG stop in Toronto, they were talking about getting going on the next one, and we still waited a couple years!). But im still very glad to hear they are looking forward.

Also very interesting about the line regarding being "free agents" - It will be interesting to see if they do the indie route again: they may take the path that the Dropkick Murphys recently have and create their own vanity label (or just use Nitro) and have the distribution handled by a major label. Or may end back on Columbia: who knows.

This seems to be a trendy thing lately. The Used made their own label for recording and had the company handling merch distribution, handle album definition. It seems to have worked well. Their album charted fairly well for them.

I actually like them on Columbia, they wouldn't really "fit" these days on something like Epitaph or if he somehow got Nitro back up and running.

Makes sense, though, they don't move the amount of albums they once did.

From a purely business perspective, there's no reason why say Epitaph couldn't handle their release - they've got some pretty big bands (Rancid, Alkaline Trio - and in particular Weezer who move about the same amount of units as the Offspring does these days). The only reason i couldn't see it happening would be the legacy of the sour way the two parted from each other originally.

I can see them using Nitro as a offspring imprint

but why don't they finish recording another album then look for a label to help them put it out when it's done?
