What do you get banned for in a forum?

I'm just reading through old threads and I see banned members. Like what's a good example to HOW you would get banned from the forum O.o

I can't think of reason except for maybe abuse to/from mods or extensive foul language.

The only two people I've actually seen get banned were sneedo (only temporary) and soxic. Soxic's reasons are obvious, and sneedo was just being confrontational to the point where you couldn't have a discussion without him trying to belittle someone. So I think it was necessary, since he seems to be acting more civil now.
